Education

Hans Offringa started his writing career as an editor of the newspaper at the high school he attended in Zwolle. After having succeeded he lived in England for a short while. When he returned to The Netherlands he commenced an evening study in English Literature, combining it with a daytime job as a proofreader at a large publisher of special interest magazines. Afterwards he attended various media courses, from journalism to producing audiovisuals.
In the area of whisky and whiskey he has been trained by Michael Jackson (+), Charles MacLean and the American whiskey icons George Stone (Jack Daniel's), Jim Rutlegde (Four Roses), Jerry Dalton (Jim Beam) and Jimmy Russell (Wild Turkey). Hans visited numerous distilleries in Scotland, England and the USA. He interviewed many people in the whisky industry.

Becky Lovett Offringa has a degree in Marine Biology from the College of Charleston (SC). After having worked at various laboratories in South Carolina and Oregon she moved to New York to get her masters degree and started working for a publishing company.
A couple of years later she returned to Charleston and became a certified real estate agent. The next 10 years she worked as Vice President at James Doran Company, a real estate and affordable housing company in Daniel Island, part of greater Charleston.
Via interviews, visiting distilleries and conducting research for Hans' whisky books, Becky developed a thorough knowledge about whisky and whiskey over the years. She is known for being an excellent taster with a great vocabulary to describe aromas and flavours.
